Everyone gets a cavity from time to time. One of the reasons your twice-yearly appointment with us is so essential is it is where we will catch them. Even with correct brushing and flossing, you can develop a cavity. Fortunately, dental science has evolved to the point where receiving a white filling is routine business. Our Oakbrook Terrace, IL practice has years of experience providing them to our patients. We are compassionate and wholly focused on the oral health of our patients. How We Place a White Filling
Placing a filling is not a complicated or painful procedure, so do not be afraid. We have plenty of experience handling cavities. We understand how to set our patients’ minds at ease before we begin filling the cavity. First, we explain the situation – what tooth the cavity is on, how many there are, and what we need to do. Then, we numb the tooth or teeth. Once we’ve dulled the impacted teeth, we used an air abrasion instrument, laser, or drill to remove the decayed area from the tooth. After we remove the diseased pulp, we test the site to make sure we removed everything and thoroughly clean the area. Finally, we add the white filling. They are tooth-colored, and people will not notice them when you smile.
Why We Opt to Install White Fillings Over Others
We use white fillings for several reasons: aesthetics, bonding, and versatility. Because they are white, they will look better on your teeth and avoid uncomfortable or embarrassing feelings. But there are practical reasons for opting for a composite resin filling. For example, they bond to the surface of your teeth much better, and we can use them for chipped and worn teeth.
