What are All on 4 Dental Implants?
All on 4 implants are used to replace entire top or bottom rows of missing teeth. All on 4 implants support dental bridges or dentures rather than merely one dental crown. These types of implants are also called full arch dental implants.
Benefits of All on 4 Implants
All on 4 dental implants offer the same benefits as traditional single implants. For example, the implant posts are inserted into the jaw bone to act as anchors for a dental prosthesis. This prevents jaw bone atrophy, which occurs when there is no longer a tooth for the jaw bone to support.
Other benefits of All on 4 implants include:
- They can be used to replace full rows of teeth
- They are fixed in place, unlike dentures which can shift and move around unexpectedly
- They don’t require any special cleaning or care outside normal, everyday oral hygiene practices
- No adhesives are required to keep them in place
- You can eat without food restrictions
- They’re durable and made to last a lifetime
- They help prevent facial sagging by preventing jaw bone loss and triggering the orofacial muscles

The All on 4 Procedure
Before an All on 4 procedure is conducted, we start with an initial consultation. When you visit our dental office in Oakbrook Terrace, our team will learn about your dental history and current oral health. We will also perform a comprehensive exam complete with X-rays to determine whether you’re a good candidate for implants.
If All on 4 implants are a suitable option for you, we’ll use state-of-the-art technology to create a custom treatment plan.
During the first stage of your procedure, four dental implants will be placed in the jaw bone. This can be done on the bottom arch, top arch of the mouth, or both at once.
Once the implants are inserted into the jaw bone, a temporary denture will be placed on top of them. The surgery site needs to heal over the next 3-6 months before the final prosthesis can be placed. This allows the implant posts to fully fuse with the bone. During this time, your custom prosthesis will be created.
After the healing process is complete, you’ll have your final dental appointment. Your temporary dentures will be replaced with a permanent prosthesis and you’ll leave the office with a flawless new smile!
How to Care for All on 4 Implants
Caring for your All on 4 implants is just as simple as caring for your natural teeth. Implant restorations require daily brushing and flossing, and it’s also important to visit your dentist for regular exams.
